The Issue
A Billion Tyres. Every Year.
Over one billion used car tyres are discarded worldwide each year. The majority end up in landfills, illegal dumps, or are burned openly, releasing toxic fumes into our atmosphere.
These tyres leach harmful chemicals into soil and groundwater for centuries. The steel wire inside remains unrecycled, wasting valuable resources that could serve industries worldwide.
This is not just a regional problem. This is a worldwide environmental crisis that demands immediate global action.

Millions of tyres end up in illegal dumps and landfills each year, taking centuries to decompose.
The Solution
One Machine. Seven Nations.
The recycling machine is built from components made across seven countries, nations that do not always see eye to eye. But together, they can recycle a tyre.
What the Machine Does
The machine takes one old used car tyre and puts it through four simple steps. First, it shreds the whole tyre into small pieces. Second, a strong magnet pulls out every piece of steel wire from inside the tyre. That steel is collected and sold as scrap metal to be recycled again.
Third, the remaining rubber is ground down into small, clean, uniform granules. Fourth, the granules are screened by size to create the final product. The result is soft, safe, non-toxic rubber that meets all European Union safety standards.

What It Creates
This rubber is used to create safe shock-absorbing surfaces for children's playgrounds. It is also used to build professional running tracks in sports stadiums for athletes. The same rubber makes elastic, vibration-reducing layers for cycling roads. It can also be used for outdoor gyms, school yards, and walking paths.
One old tyre that was going to a landfill becomes a safe place for a child to play. One old tyre becomes part of a running track where athletes train. One old tyre becomes a smoother, safer cycling road. Nothing is wasted. The steel is saved. The rubber is saved. The planet is cleaner.

The Founder
From Cyprus to the World
My name is Stefano Iacovou. I started Zero Tyres to Landfill because I could not watch another tyre burn. I could not accept that landfills are the final destination for something that can become safe parks for children.
I am building this facility in Cyprus because Cyprus sits between Europe, Asia, and Africa. If this works here, it can work anywhere.
This is not my project. This is our project. Every donor is a co-founder of this global movement.
